The Killing is a television series that premiered in April 2011 and is produced by AMC. It is based on the Danish television series Forbrydelsen. It stars Mireille Enos, Billy Campbell, Joel Kinnaman, Kristin Lehman, Liam James, Seth Isaac Johnson, Richard Harmon, and other well known actors/actresses.
Season 1 follows the first two weeks of the investigation of the murder of local teenager Rosie Larsen. This season has three main story lines: the police investigation into Rosie's murder, the Larsen family's attempts to deal with their grief, and a political campaign's arising problems once it becomes embroiled in the case.
The investigation into the murder continues. Secrets about the Larsen family are revealed, as well as a possible conspiracy within the campaign race and the Seattle police department. The Larsen murder case eventually gets closed once it gets revealed who was involved in it.
A year after the Rosie Larsen case, Stephen Holder is searching for a runaway girl. He ends up uncovering a string of murders connected to one of his ex-partner's, Sarah Linden's, previous murder investigations, and Linden, no longer a detective, must return to both a career and a case she had put behind her.
In season 4, detectives Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder have to handle the fallout of their actions from the previous season while investigating the murder of a family whose only survivor is a member of an all-boys military academy. AMC cancelled The Killing but Netflix ordered the fourth season and released it in all territories in August 2014.
